Campbell Ritchie, natural, vegan, cruelty-free, eco-conscious makeup artist and skincare expert

Eco Vegan Makeup Artist Tells All

"Whenever I choose products or I choose companies, they will always say to me, 'Oh, we're doing really well in our sustainability,' and I say, 'Okay, well show me, show me exactly what you're doing.'” That’s part of a fascinating, brand new, 5-minute documentary, Campbell Ritchie: No Compromise, coming out Wednesday, June 15, 2022, on LightbeamTV, the first streaming platform dedicated to inspiring, empathy-sparking content.

Directed by filmmaker and podcaster Tiffany Bartok (Larger than Life: The Kevyn Aucoin Story), it tells the story of the Australian-born Ritchie, starting out as a model working with the likes of legendary makeup artists Francois Nars and Kevin Aucoin, and how, inspired by them, she turned to being a makeup artist. Her life would change when she faced a life-threatening bout with stage 2B breast cancer which is now in remission, thanks in large part to alternative medicines.

That experience hardened her resolve to champion green, natural, vegan and cruelty-free products in ecologically responsible packaging. “For whatever reason, the FDA approves a lot of things that aren't legally approved in other countries like formaldehyde. And it's in most beauty products, especially eye products,” says Ritchie. “That blows my mind.”

“I don't want to promote brands and products that aren't trying to make a difference,” says Ritchie. “My ethos has and will always be ‘morals over dollars.’” Campbell’s focus on only working with brands that align with her values is also how she came into contact with HEAR ME RAW and has since become a fan and dear friend.

“We share the exact same values on product and packaging, exact same desires to do all we can to educate the public, and the exact same frustrations on the industry’s inability to operate responsibly and regulate itself responsibly,” said HEAR ME RAW’s CEO Mike Indursky. “We’re both trying to change the world.”

Underneath Campbell's drive is a desire to share the love. “I see the beauty in every single human being. I really do. So just being of service, whether it's on the makeup chair or making this planet a better place, it gives me so much joy. It, it seems so simple, but it really is that simple. It gives me joy.”
